Allanwater Homes is a family-owned business based in Stirlingshire, focused on designing and building quality homes across Scotland. As the team began expanding its portfolio, they approached Kirkwood Timber Frame to manufacture and deliver full timber frame packages for its beautiful ‘Silver Glen’ development in Alva, Stirling, which comprises 95 three, four and five bedroom homes.
We caught up with Mark Watson, Site Manager for Silver Glen, and Adam Hodge, Commercial Manager at Allanwater Homes, to learn more about their experience with Kirkwood Timber Frame.
What impressed you about Kirkwood Timber Frame’s packages and service?
Mark Watson, Site Manager: “The kits are great, the deliveries are great and the timing is great. The finishing packs are nicely wrapped and watertight which makes a huge difference. It’s literally the best quality of finish that we’ve done in our houses, and the team were great to work with from start to finish - every time we send an email we always get a rapid response.”
How did you hear about Kirkwood Timber Frame?
Adam Hodge, Commercial Manager: “As we are expanding our offering with a lot of new sites, there was a need for us to have another supplier onboard to spread the increasing volume of work. I had a look online and came across Kirkwood Timber Frame and decided to meet with the team at their offices, where I was very impressed with their factory’s operations and the people who were both friendly and professional.”
Why did you choose Kirkwood to supply your timber frame package?
Adam: “We felt that Kirkwood Timber Frame was compatible with Allanwater’s needs. Since we don’t have in-house buyers as such, we prefer to go down the full supply route and the manufacturers offering this option is rather limited. Not only were Kirkwood able to deliver this to a high standard, they also supplied it at a very reasonable price.”
What advice would you give to other home builders considering Kirkwood?
Adam: “They’re a good company to work with. When problems arose, they were able to deal with them straight away, and find an efficient solution. We had a really good experience and would definitely recommend them.”
