One year in at Kirkwood Timber Frame and it has been full of exciting projects, from working with our customers on case studies, to digitising our systems, extending our premises, installing new machinery, welcoming new team members, and getting stuck into the job in hand.
Last year was all about getting our name out there, letting other businesses, suppliers and potential customers know about our plans to grow Kirkwood Timber Frame. Iām sure youāve all been following our progress on social media platforms.
2022 has been an incredible, although challenging year so farā¦
The many projects that were brand new enquiries this time last year are now coming to fruition, and it is fantastic to see timber frames manufactured in our new facility now being delivered to site. Feedback from those who are working together with us has been very positive, which is important as our ethos is to provide the best customer service, and itās always great to hear that the team are doing a fantastic job.
Thereās no escaping the events of today with the price of most things increasing, the construction industry has not been immune to this and managing raw material, labour and transport cost increases has been tough. That being said, it doesnāt seem to have caused any detrimental effects yet as we remain successful across a variety of sectors, from one-off homes to private housing, social housing, and commercial projects. Some of these projects are feature in this edition, enjoy!

Martin entered into the timber frame sector after gaining his degree in Quantity Surveying at Robert Gordon University. He joined the Kirkwood Timber Frame team in July 2021 to head up the estimating team, bringing over 7 years' experience across a number of roles in the timber frame sector.
He is focussed on attention to detail and being flexible to meet the differing needs of customers in order to provide the best service possible. He's also invested in the training and development of younger members of the team to give them the best possible start in the industry.
Away from the office, Martin likes to explore the beautiful corner of the world, close to our Aberdeenshire base and devotes (possibly unhealthy amount of) time following his beloved Aberdeen FC.
This quarter we welcomed James and Matthew to the team - our new Trainee Architectural Technologists who've joined us as part of their third year university placement.
Over the next few months they'll work across Kirkwood Homes and Kirkwood Timber Frame, supporting a range of projects by aiding our drawing offices in preparing technical approvals, marketing and site information for our latest developments.
We're proud to continue to support RGU students as part of their Architectural Technology degree.
